Production level LCA in the fertilizer manufactory of GA-ZAP

The objective of work the package is to evaluate carbon footprints based on LCA methodologies for GA-ZAP fertilizers at a production level with regard to natural gas, stream and energy consumption and N2O emission (due to differences in nitric acid operational parameters) and to develop a spreadsheet tool to calculate the carbon footprint for the fertilizers. The carbon footprint is estimated on a yearly basis for the rates of consumption of raw materials and media for various intermediate products, and the calculated specific GHG emission factors for energy utilities (fuel, electricity, heat). The evaluation presents the ground for the overall assessment of the GA-ZAP products carbon footprint in terms of presently used farming practices as well as in terms of environmental performance of recommended Low Carbon technologies.
